Performance Pad Modes
Each deck features 8 colorful performance pads that provide instant access to cue points, loops, effects, and samples. The function of each pad changes based on the active center panel page.
Switching Modes
Swipe through the center panel pages to access different pad modes. The pads automatically adapt their function to match the selected page.
Hot Cue Default
Set and trigger up to 16 cue points per track for instant jumps to any position.
Beat Loop
Instant beat-synced loops from 1/4 beat to 32 beats. Tap to engage, tap again to exit.
Pad FX
Trigger effects by holding pads. Effect activates on press and releases on lift.
Sampler
Trigger one-shot samples or loops independent of deck playback.
Manual Loops
Set custom loop points with Loop In, Loop Out, and quick 4-beat loop toggle.
Quick Tip
On DJ controllers, dedicated mode buttons instantly switch pad functions without navigating the center panel.
Hot Cues
Hot cues let you mark specific positions in a track and instantly jump to them during playback. Set up to 16 cue points per track.
Setting Hot Cues
- Tap an empty pad to set a hot cue at the current playback position
- Tap a lit pad to instantly jump to that cue point
- Long-press any pad to open the 16-cue grid view for managing all cues
- Double-tap CUE button to set the main cue point (separate from hot cues)
Managing Cues
In the 16-cue grid view, you can see all cue points at once. Each cue shows its position in the track. Tap to jump, or delete cues you no longer need.
Pro Technique
Set hot cues at key moments before your set: drops, vocal entries, breakdowns, and outros. During performance, you can jump between these moments to create live remixes.
Beat Loops
Create instant loops that are perfectly synced to the beat grid. Beat loops snap to the nearest beat for seamless, in-time looping.
Loop Sizes
| Pad | Loop Length |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1/4 beat (quick stutter) |
| 2 | 1/2 beat |
| 3 | 1 beat |
| 4 | 2 beats |
| 5 | 4 beats (1 bar) |
| 6 | 8 beats (2 bars) |
| 7 | 16 beats (4 bars) |
| 8 | 32 beats (8 bars) |
How to Use
- Tap a pad to engage a loop of that size starting at the nearest beat
- Tap the same pad again to exit the loop and continue playback
- Tap a different pad while looping to change the loop size instantly
Beat Grid Required
Beat loops work best when the track has been analyzed and has an accurate beat grid. If beats seem off, use the TAP button on the SYNC page to correct the downbeat.
Pad FX
Pad FX lets you trigger effects with momentary control. Effects activate instantly when you press a pad and release when you lift your finger.
How It Works
- Press and hold a pad to activate the effect
- Release the pad to deactivate the effect
- Effects are pre-configured for maximum impact during drops and transitions
- Each pad triggers a different effect type
Perfect For
- Quick hits during drops — add impact with momentary filter sweeps or reverb bursts
- Transitions — hold an echo pad as you fade out for a professional trailing effect
- Build-ups — layer multiple effects by pressing multiple pads simultaneously
- Live remixing — add your own signature sound to any track
Pro Technique
Use Pad FX in combination with the crossfader. As you fade to the incoming track, hold an echo or filter pad on the outgoing deck for a smooth, professional transition.
Sampler
The sampler lets you trigger one-shot samples or loops that play independently of deck playback. Perfect for adding vocals, sound effects, or additional elements to your mix.
Accessing the Sampler
Swipe to the Sampler page in the center panel.
The pads now trigger samples instead of hot cues or loops.
Tap a pad to play the assigned sample. Tap again to stop (for loops) or retrigger (for one-shots).
Sample Sources
- Built-in sounds — Tremor includes a selection of DJ-ready samples
- Your own samples — Load custom audio files from Files
- Independent playback — Samples play at their original tempo, unaffected by deck pitch
Loading Custom Samples
Replace any sample slot with your own audio files:
Long-press a sample pad to open the sample options menu.
Tap Load Sample to open the file picker.
Navigate to your audio file. Supported formats: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, CAF.
The sample loads and is ready to trigger. Your custom sample persists across app restarts.
Organizing Your Samples
- Create a dedicated folder in Files (e.g., "DJ Samples") for easy access
- Use descriptive names like "airhorn.wav" or "vocal-drop.m4a"
- Keep files short — under 10 seconds for one-shots, longer for loops
- Normalize volume — samples should be similar in loudness to avoid surprises
Sampler Volume
Each deck has an independent sampler with its own master volume control. Access the volume fader in the sampler page header to adjust overall sample loudness without affecting individual samples.
Sample Tip
For best results, use short samples (under 10 seconds) for one-shots and longer samples for loops. Keep sample files organized in a dedicated folder for quick loading.
Pro Technique
Load your signature vocal drops, DJ tags, and sound effects before your set. Assign them to memorable pad positions (like pad 1 for your DJ tag) so you can trigger them instinctively during transitions.
Manual Loops
Manual loops give you precise control over loop points. Set custom loop start and end positions anywhere in the track.
Accessing Manual Loops
Swipe to the Loops page in the center panel to access manual loop controls.
Loop Controls
| Control | Function |
|---|---|
| Loop In | Set the loop start point at the current playback position |
| Loop Out | Set the loop end point and immediately activate the loop |
| 4 Beat / Exit | Toggle a 4-beat loop or exit the current active loop |
Creating a Manual Loop
Play the track and tap Loop In at the moment you want the loop to start.
Continue playing and tap Loop Out where you want the loop to end.
The loop activates immediately and repeats between your two points.
Tap 4 Beat / Exit or tap Loop Out again to exit the loop and continue playback.
Quick Loop
If you just need a quick 4-beat loop without setting custom points, tap the 4 Beat button. It creates an instant loop starting from the current position.
