Three layout options optimized for iPad's larger display. Choose between focused 2-deck mixing, integrated library browsing, or creative 4-deck performance with the Orbital Fader.
1 Choosing a Layout
Tremor offers three distinct layouts on iPad, each designed for different mixing styles and workflows. You can switch between them at any time from iOS Settings.
Open iOS Settings
Go to the Settings app on your iPad (the gray gear icon on your home screen).
Find Tremor
Scroll down in Settings and tap Tremor in the app list.
Select Deck Count
Under the iPad section, tap Deck Count and choose your preferred layout.
Available Options
2 2 Decks Layout
The classic dual-deck layout gives you the most screen real estate for each deck. This is the default layout and ideal for focused, professional mixing.
What You Get
- Large Turntables — Full-size vinyl platters with album art and video playback. GPU-rendered grooves respond to your scratching in real-time
- Full Waveform Display — Harmonically-colored waveforms show the complete track structure with clear playhead position
- All Controls Visible — Transport controls, BPM display, track info, and elapsed time are always accessible
- Center Panel — Swipe between Volume, EQ, Sync, Stems, Effects, and more in the area between decks
Best For
Focused mixing sessions, scratching and turntablism, video DJ sets, and when you want maximum visual feedback from each deck.
3 2 Decks + Library Layout
This split-view layout keeps both decks accessible while providing an always-visible music library at the bottom of the screen. Perfect for live sets where you need to browse and load tracks quickly.
Layout Structure
- Top Section — Both decks with turntables, waveforms, and controls (slightly more compact than 2-deck mode)
- Bottom Section — Embedded music library browser with all your sources (Library, Apple Music, Files, Recordings)
Deck Picker
Above the library, you'll see two buttons: A and B. These are the deck picker buttons.
- Select Deck A — Tap the A button (highlighted in cyan) before loading a track to send it to Deck A
- Select Deck B — Tap the B button (highlighted in orange) before loading a track to send it to Deck B
- Quick Load — Tap any track in the library to instantly load it to the selected deck
Best For
Live DJ sets where you need to browse your collection while mixing, quick track selection without interrupting your workflow, and sets with frequent track changes.
4 4 Decks with Orbital Fader
The most creative layout puts four independent decks at your fingertips with a revolutionary 2D crossfader called the Orbital Fader. This opens up possibilities for complex mashups, layered mixing, and live remixing.
Deck Arrangement
- Deck A — Top-left corner
- Deck B — Top-right corner
- Deck C — Bottom-left corner
- Deck D — Bottom-right corner
Each deck has its own turntable, waveform, and transport controls. The Orbital Fader sits in the center, replacing the traditional crossfader.
How the Orbital Fader Works
The Orbital Fader is a 2D XY crossfader. Drag the circular control point within the square to blend between all four decks simultaneously. The position determines which decks you hear:
Bilinear Interpolation
The Orbital Fader uses bilinear interpolation to calculate smooth volume transitions. This means:
- Corners = 100% One Deck — Move to any corner to hear only that deck at full volume
- Edges = 2-Deck Crossfade — Along any edge, you get a smooth blend between the two adjacent corner decks (just like a traditional crossfader)
- Center = All 4 Decks — At the exact center, all four decks play at 25% volume each
- Gain Unity — The total volume always sums to 100%, preventing volume jumps as you move the fader
Creative Mixing
Try loading four tracks from the same genre and moving the Orbital Fader in circular motions. You can create evolving mashups by blending beats from one deck with vocals from another while sweeping through melodic elements from the remaining two.
Best For
Creative 4-deck mixing, live mashups and remixes, layered transitions, experimental performances, and DJs who want to push beyond traditional 2-deck mixing.
5 External Display / AirPlay
Connect your iPad to an external display to show your video mix to the audience while keeping the full DJ interface on your iPad.
Connecting via AirPlay
- Apple TV — AirPlay to any Apple TV connected to a TV, projector, or LED wall
- AirPlay-Compatible Displays — Many modern smart TVs support AirPlay 2 directly
- USB-C/HDMI Adapter — Connect directly to any display via a USB-C to HDMI adapter for zero latency
What Displays Where
External Display
Shows the video mix only with no UI elements. This is what your audience sees: a clean, full-screen blend of your video content that follows your crossfader movements.
iPad Screen
Keeps the full DJ interface so you can control everything: decks, waveforms, effects, and the Video page preview in the center panel.
Pro Tip
Load video files (MP4, MOV, M4V) onto your decks. The video appears on the turntable and syncs with audio playback. When you scratch the vinyl, the video scratches too. The external display shows a crossfaded blend of both deck videos.
